Drop-in© Trial Class & Participation Policy
Purpose
We welcome prospective students to experience a martial arts class before deciding whether continued training is right for them. This policy explains the terms of participation in a trial class and confirms that attending a trial class does not create any obligation to enroll or purchase a membership.
1. Drop-in© Trial Class
A prospective student may participate in a trial martial arts class of their choice to experience our training environment, instruction, and program.
Participation in a trial class is intended solely as an opportunity to evaluate whether the student enjoys the program and wishes to continue training.
There is no obligation to enroll, purchase a membership, sign a long-term agreement, or continue attending classes after the trial.
2. Understanding of Risk
Karate and martial arts training involve physical activity and inherent risks. These risks may include, but are not limited to:
-
Muscle soreness, strains, sprains, or other physical injuries
-
Bruises, bumps, or accidental contact
-
Falls or loss of balance
-
Injuries resulting from kicks, punches, blocks, or other techniques
-
Injury caused by another participant or accidental contact with equipment
-
Aggravation of a pre-existing condition
-
In rare circumstances, more serious injury
The student understands that participation in a karate class or martial arts training involves these inherent risks and voluntarily chooses to participate.
3. Student Responsibility
The student agrees to:
-
Follow the instructor's directions and safety rules.
-
Conduct themselves respectfully toward instructors and other students.
-
Inform the instructor of any injury, medical limitation, or physical condition that may affect participation.
-
Stop exercising and notify the instructor if they experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or feel unwell.
-
Use training equipment appropriately and as instructed.
-
Participate only at a level appropriate to their own physical ability.
Students should not participate if they are feeling ill, injured, or otherwise unable to safely participate in physical activity.
4. No Obligation to Enroll
A trial class is not a sales commitment.
After the trial class, the student may choose whether or not to continue training. No student will be required to purchase a membership or sign an enrollment agreement simply because they participated in a trial class.
Any future membership, tuition, or enrollment agreement will be presented separately for the student to review before making a decision.
5. Instructor Authority
Instructors may modify, restrict, or end a student's participation when they reasonably believe it is necessary for safety, including if the student is unable to safely perform an activity or is not following instructions.
6. Acknowledgment
By participating in a trial class, the student acknowledges that they have had the opportunity to understand the nature of the activity and its inherent risks and voluntarily choose to participate.
For participants under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must review and authorize participation before the trial class.
